Why we made it
A venue music company made a radio app. Here is the connection.

eJukebox is not a streaming company. Everything we do is about getting people in a room to listen to music, and to stay for it. In a pub, a club or a business that means eJukebox playing the room, and the people in it requesting their own songs from their phones and taking control of the music at their favourite venue.
The app is the same idea, outside the venue. Every station you could want, the best version of each, and you in charge of what plays. Same people, same reason, different room.

Hear what a venue sounds like before you walk in.
At the top of the app sit the eJukebox channels, the ones our music directors build for pubs and clubs, and a small number of live feeds from real eJukebox venues. If you run a room, that is what the trial puts in it. If you do not, they are simply good radio with no ads.
The sound
Why it sounds better than the station's own app.
A station's own app usually plays one stream, and it is not always the good one. eJukebox Music knows every stream a station puts out, what codec it uses and how many kilobits it carries, and it ranks them by how they actually sound rather than by the number. A modern AAC stream at a lower number beats an old MP3 at a higher one, so that is the one you get.
The stations stay as they were made, ads and all. We change nothing on the way through and we never sit in the middle of the stream. Your phone talks to the broadcaster directly.

Is the eJukebox Music app free?
Yes, all of it. No account, no sign-up, no subscription and no advertising of ours on top of the stations. The stations carry whatever their own broadcasters put to air, exactly as they would on a radio.
Which stations are in it?
Every Australian and New Zealand station we can find a public stream for - the commercial networks, the ABC and RNZ, community and regional stations, and our own eJukebox channels at the top. The list is checked every day, so a station that moves its stream comes back on its own.

Why does it sound better than the station's own app?
Most stations put out several streams at different qualities. The app picks the best-sounding one by default, and the STREAM row in the player lets you choose another if you are short on data.
Does it work in the car?
Yes. It keeps playing with the phone locked or in your pocket, and the steering-wheel or lock-screen next and previous buttons step through your favourites in the order you put them.
What are recordings for?
Missing a show is the reason. Press Record and the app keeps what is playing, at full stream quality, until you stop it or the time you set runs out. Recordings play back like any station, with the phone locked if you like. They are for your own listening - the station still owns the broadcast.
What has a venue music company got to do with a radio app?
Everything we do is about getting people listening to music. In a pub or a club that means eJukebox playing the room and letting the people in it request their own songs. On your phone it means every station you could want and full control over what you hear. Same idea, different room.
Is there an Android version?
The app is built to run on both. iPhone is first, and the Android version follows once the iPhone one has settled.
